“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily
angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but
rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always
hopes, always perseveres.Love never fails."
This verse is used constantly in a world obsessed with love and
the desire to be loved perfectly. We all want to be loved by someone who
we can always trust, who will be patient with us in our mistakes made
over & over, someone who we feel 100% safe with, and (this is a big
one for me) who doesn’t hold our mess ups & failures against us.
When I doubted the existence of God it came from my warped view of what
love is. Human beings love with a love that cannot measure up with this
verse, try as we might. I have experiences with people who said they
loved me and then abandoned me or they were loving for selfish reasons.
The love that Jesus has for us is something that’s hard to believe in
because we have never experienced that form of love so impeccable. Love
without mistakes or abandonment when difficulty arises. It is
unconditional meaning it is not limited by conditions. This love was
meant for you and me.
